SPECIAL ALERT – INCREASED BIOHAZARD RISK

Chef Container & Westshore Recycling have issued a Special Alert to all customer requesting that “Sharps” (which consist of needles & lancents) not be placed in the waste and recycle containers oe bags.  Please contact your county health department or local pharmacy to receive a “bio-hazard sharps container” and proper disposal instructions.

This Alert has been made in an effort to eliminate and/or greatly reduce possiblea BIOHAZARD injury to workers collecting and sorting materials for recycling within the County of Ottawa, County of Alleg anand the County of Kent. Those county’s have recycled materials which are processed at the Westshore Recycling facility in Allegan County through both manual and automated processes. Therefore, when Sharps are placed inside plastic containers such as detergent bottles and then recycled it then present a risk to our employees’ health and safety.

This Alert is for the following communities: City of Holland, City of Zeeland, City of Saugatuck, City of the Village of Douglas, City of Plainwell, City of Fennville, City of Otsego, Holland Township, Park Township, Zeeland Township, Fillmore Township, Laketown Township, Saugatuck Township, Manlius Township, Allegan Township, Otsego Township and all other areas when Chef Container provides residential or commercial services.
